Southern Rhône
Laurent Charvin heads this tiny family estate in the north of Châteauneuf-du-Pape which was established in 1851. The 8 ha of vines that the farm lie in vineyard sites that are cooler than most sites in the region. The vines are between 50-80 years old and are planted mostly in sandy slopes with northern exposure.
Laurent focuses on keeping vine yields very low, and intervening as little as possible in the cellars. The fruit is hand-harvested and does not go through de-stemming. It is then fermented whole-cluster in cement and is bottled unfined and unfiltered after 21 months.
